Lead Bullets For Game Hunting

Documentation of game hunting goes back as far as the early civilization. During those times, hunters used traps, spears and stones to kill their prey. This evolved to easier and much more effective means when firearms were developed. Until recently, the only ammunition available to game hunters were lead bullets. Although there have controversies regarding the use of lead covered bullets in hunting, hunters are still adamant in using them for a number of reasons. The first of a long line of reasons why hunters are infuriated with the request to ban lead ammunition is the fact that it is cheaper than other variants. The request of the ban is aimed to protect the bird life in hunting areas. However, hunters argue that responsible hunting can prevent the extinction of the bird that environmentalists are trying to protect thus; eliminating the need to ban the use of lead ammunition. Furthermore, game hunters prefer lead ammunition because they are lighter and travel faster when shot. This ensures that they are able to hit their prey before it runs away.

As far as ammunition for firearms meant for personal security and war battles go; gun owners are not affected with the proposed ban. More than 50% of private firearm owners prefer to use 45 acp bullets because it is much more suitable for hand guns. ACP bullets come in copper and silver variants that are generally much more expensive than lead. However, ammunition buyers do not mind this because their bullets are used sparingly.
